They were just left there after the trees were all cut down and there were no more logs to skid to the rail. We kids used to play "war" with them (they made fine substitutes for shermans & panzers). Unfortunately, some time in the 70's somebody found them and torched them into a pile of scrap iron that slowly got hauled out over one long summer for beer money.
